TF2 server sounds

I plan on adding more sounds in the future when people don't mind downloading anything, they still tend to not like to even download a custom map.

So far the sounds I have up there now are thanks to [JLM]Gnum I really liked his setup when I used to play on his server.

If you guys have any idea on what you would want, please post it here.

You?re right though, people may not like longer download times. Because you only need to download it once, this could only piss off the new guys ? there?s no way you?re getting rid of us addicts, even if you added some crazy custom Dominatrix sound which would take 20 minutes to load every time lol

Soooo, in case you do decide to put more sounds in, I would vote for more portal sounds, for two reasons: a) they?re awesome, and b) they can be used depending on a situation :cool: ?Let?s take a look at the real-world example:? ? Portal Trailer:

?Certain objects are vital to your success? ? when capping or picking up intel
?Please refrain from destroying valuable lab apparatus? ? when destroying a sentry/dispenser/teleport
?Give up now and cake will be served immediately? ? when the other team is desperately trying to cap
There really was a cake? ? at the end of the round
?Aperture Science regulations require us to inform you that you will be baked?and then there will be cake? ? in the beginning of the round
?Grief counseling and cake will be available in the end of the test? ? in the beginning
?You?re doing? very?well!? ? instead of ?nice shot? or ?good job?, when capping, picking up intel etc
Cannon sounds: ?Are you still there?? or ?Would you come over? here?? ? If you?re camping or defending a point (engie or demoman), and somebody?s trying to get to you

Another thing with adding more sounds is that it will be harder to find them through admin menu, unless you memorize the shortcut (e.g. 9 > 9 > 1). We could set up some more shortcuts (like ?!yeah? and ?!what?), or even triggers to play sounds based on events (sentry destroyed, point captured, round begins, round ends etc). The triggers can be tricky though ? repeating the same sounds over and over again ruined a lot of good games. Even if we figure out how to set it up, we will have to think it through, probably randomize them and play sounds only every 10th or 20th time to avoid the same sound being played over and over again.

Bottom line ? great idea Dom! Let?s see what other people have to say, may be make a poll?

Can Beetle's Mod activate sounds that are already in the game?

I was rooting around in the data files with gcfscape and found some great ones.  They're mostly special achievement sounds that almost never play, so they would
take people pretty much off guard.

All of these are in the game already, so if there's a way to activate them just skip the upper case words at the beginning of the files and rock the hizzy.

Yea stobbin, just like the dominating, revenge, and rival sound clips in the game already, all I have to do is put down the sound path like sound/misc/suddendeath.wav

I can add as many of those as we want because nobody has to download them.
