I know this isn't really the greatest place to look for help, but I'm too exhausted to keep searching the steam forums and other various SDK/Hammer tutorials. I can't compile this map. Would someone mind lookin at it and telling my dumbass what I'm doing wrong. DownloadWorst case scenario: The map becomes a source for prefabs. Best case scenario: We play it someday. I don't even care if you steal this and take all the credit. I just want to know what I'm doing wrong. |

How often do you take saves of those things? I know it's a pain in the ass to make a save after every step, but if you did, then you could go back and try to compile every single save until you get to one that can compile, and then see what you added in the next save that screwed it up.
When does it tell you the compiling problem anyway? Before it starts or halfway through or what? I know it takes a while to compile.

my hammer froze when i was compiling it, but it still spit out a .bsp file. i tested it in a TF2 server and it worked just fine. im gonna try compiling it again later to make sure i didnt just get lucky. were you getting any errors during compiling?

I saved a LOT. Unfortunately, the problem only pops up when I put the whole map together.
As for errors... other than "run buildcubemaps" there aren't any. It just kinda freezes when running vvis.exe.

yea it did that to me too. i terminated vvis.exe in the task manager and it continued to compile. try doing that.

there might be a problem with the compile settings that you are using. Have you compiled other maps successfully?

give it to me to look at it to see if I can even compress it, with a bad map it wont compress to a bzip, and I can also test host it.

If you can't compile it then I can't compress it so it doesn't really matter right now, I just know with ls maps when I compressed it, people couldn't download it right for some reason.
