im trying to convince my retarded parents to spend less for faster internet
yes, i said less for faster (they have a problem with understanding that fact)
we are paying 39.99 for 1.5 Mbps when we could be paying 24.99 for 5 Mbps
sad, i know

Yeah, but the 5 Mbps probably has a lower bandwidth limit or something.

Doubt it, high speed internet is getting so cheep these days.
Staff just do what I did. Hey mom we could save money by "downgrading internet speed" because we don't really care that much about speed so you will save a lot of money.

"While we're all celebrating Charter's 60Mbps broadband access here in the US, the Korea Communications Commission is spending $24 billion to secure 1Gbps access by 2012. 1Gbps allows you to download a 120-minute film in 12 seconds. There's one small catch to the commission's plan, which is that only large cities in Korea will have access to the top tier broadband. But surrounding smaller areas will still have access to 50 to 100 Mbps speeds...or about 10 to 20 times the speed of what I get in my DSL-only apartment building. In the words of Matt Buchanan, "That and bibimbap? Man I hate Korea."" http://i.gizmodo.com/5144345/korea-to-get-1gbps-downloading-by-2012

To be fair, it's a lot easier to set up infrastructure in a small country like (I'm assuming south) Korea or Japan. As opposed to XBOX HUEG Canada.

1gbps is all well and good but if your downloading a movie from a server whose top speed is, say, 25mbps (or w/e the standard server speed is) then youre going to be downloading at 5mbps. Still, thats alot better than the internet im getting (never goes past 355kbps)

Me too. We are paying 50$ box a month for 3mbps white WI-MAX internet.
It dosnt work half the time, its expensive, and my speed never go pass 212kbps
But know, they are upgrading there accelerotor, I Optic fiber is gonna be available! I am not gonna take that, but just a fair 5mbps
