Right, so here's my story: Months and months ago a friend of mine from some remote corner of the internets started his own largely unsuccessful TF2 server. I'd played the game beforehand plenty of times, but it usually boiled down to the two of us and maybe two or three other people just messing around for awhile. It was kind of stupid, but I'd take breaks from other servers to hang out there.
Well, after awhile my computer died. -Several- months later I moved into a new apartment and commandeered my roommate's PC (I can't afford to fix mine just yet), install Steam, and get back into playing TF2 a bit. The friend from earlier's taken down his server due to inactivity so I'm mostly just looking at the list of servers my friends are playing in the server browser and going with that. Well, I see that my friend from earlier's online again and he's in a server that has the words "FUN NIGHT" in the description. I'm there, dude. Take a guess what server that was. =P
My friend never rejoined the server after he left that night, but I stuck around and joined a few more times. A handful of you may recognize me, such as randomgirl, Dominator, and asia♥face. I'm sure I've seen a few more names in the times I've played (Combat Wombat and Crits Go Where?! come to mind), but those three are on pretty much every time I've been on.

About the name: Way back when I first discovered internet forums at the young age of 11 (or 12?) I saw some forums relating to a certain spiky blue hedgehog. Those were embarassing times for all involved; everyone had some terrible fancharacter of their own and had usernames based off of them. I saw them and thought "Hm... I need a name. Sonic + Nick = ?" And thus "SoNick" was made. There was some terrible orange Sonic recolor to go with the name that eventually became a freakish hedgehog/moogle hybrid (...don't ask), but I phased that out starting in around 2005 or so, about the same time I dropped the "Super" I'd picked up. I tried dropping to just "Nick" a few times, but it never stuck. I really don't care about those game that much anymore, but I've been "SoNick" since 1999 at least, so it's kind of late for a name-change at this point!
Pronunciation: I used to be all annoying about it back in the day and demand that the name's pronounced as "Sonic" with extra emphasis on the second syllable, but I really don't care anymore! Call me whatever you want as long as it's something that can reasonably be derived from the letters given; I won't exactly know who you're trying to talk to if you refer to me as something obscure like "Abraham Washington."
About the avatar: Right, in the land of the
Sonic Retro forums back in 2004 some guy calling himself "Wyvernlord" offered to make drawings of posters based on their posting style or his interpretation of them or etc. Most of them were kind of weird and trippy, and they were all rather simple. Joining the bandwagon I applied for a drawing and set it as my avatar, then I didn't get around to changing it for a few years. By that point I decided to just roll with it and keep it as a permanent thing, so I used it as my Steam profile picture and I'm using it here now.

This is a wild SoNick in his natural habitat. Given the number of empty tables it would appear that many of the other gamers at the LAN party still have yet to arrive.
